Tax Season, Simplified: Akronās New E-File System š°ļø
The City of Akron just rolled out a streamlined e-file system for 2025 tax season, offering residents and businesses an easier way to tackle their taxes. Individuals can now file and pay their city taxes online, check for outstanding balances, and even request direct-deposit refunds. Businesses can take advantage of new features like uploading employee W-2s and filing Annual Reconciliations online.
For those less tech-savvy, Akron is still offering a personal touch: residents can request the city to complete their tax return by mailing in forms or dropping off documents. With the April 15 deadline looming, Akronās move to modernize tax filing is just in time to take some stress out of tax season. Ready to file? Head to akronohio.gov/efile to get started.
Akron āļø Los Angeles? Breeze Is Back
Breeze Airways is bringing back its direct flights from Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) starting May 22. With flights on Thursdays and Saturdays, this marks the second year the seasonal service has been offered, following strong demand last year with an average of 75% capacity.
Airport officials are optimistic about an even busier season this year, with hopes for extended or even year-round service in the future. The route represents the longest flight ever offered at CAK and adds to the airportās growing roster of destinations, which also includes new year-round flights from Allegiant Air and expanded services from American and United Airlines. Flights can be booked on the Breeze Website.
Rooting for Akronās Future š²
Akron is investing $750,000 to plant 1,800 native trees along residential streets this year, focusing on the South and Southwest neighborhoods with the lowest tree canopy coverage. As part of the cityās street tree program, certified arborists will manage the effort, aiming to improve air quality, reduce heat island effects, and foster a healthier urban environment.
Mayor Shammas Malik emphasized the long-term value of a robust tree canopy, noting benefits like lower respiratory disease rates and enhanced community safety. Residents can request a tree or opt out by contacting 3-1-1 or using the Akron311 app. Keep an eye out for northern red oaks, sugar maples, and serviceberries popping up near you!
