Summit County Launches $45M Opioid Crisis Fund

Summit County is taking a major step to combat the opioid epidemic with the creation of a $45 million Summit Health and Safety Innovation Fund, supported by opioid litigation settlements. Managed by the Akron Community Foundation, the fund aims to improve health outcomes, attract future funding, and support grassroots programs. During the height of the crisis in 2016, Summit County saw 307 overdose deaths, a number that remains troubling despite recent declines. The fund is expected to be operational next year.
